The final of EU Sparks for Climate – the first European Citizens’ Hackathon Championship, 10 & 11 October 2024 (online)
Eurocrowd is excited to announce the final event of EU Sparks for Climate. In this EU-wide competition where joint teams of researchers and citizens have been developing innovative solutions for climate adaptation and mitigation. As a key partner, Eurocrowd has not only supported the organization and promotion of local hackathons but has also provided in-depth workshops and coaching to the participating teams, with a special focus on entrepreneurship and fundraising strategies. Our goal has been to equip teams with the knowledge and tools to transform their ideas into actionable, sustainable solutions.

What is EU Sparks for Climate?
Over the last six months, EU Sparks for Climate has united more than 300 young people, students, researchers, innovators, and citizens through 14 events across Europe. A total of 74 teams from 22 EU Member States and 7 Horizon Europe Associated Countries have collaborated to transform research and knowledge into practical solutions for tackling climate change in their communities. These efforts align with the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change and the EU Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities.

Eurocrowd has played a crucial role in the success of EU Sparks for Climate by offering tailored workshops and coaching designed to help teams develop the entrepreneurial and fundraising skills needed to turn their ideas into reality. Our support has focused on providing participants with the tools to structure their projects, pitch their solutions to investors, and secure the funding necessary for long-term success. By doing so, Eurocrowd has empowered teams to not only innovate but also to build sustainable ventures that can make a real impact in their communities.
Join Us for the Final
We encourage you to follow the final event via live stream on October 10th and 11th. Here’s what you can expect:
- October 10th: The winning teams from local hackathons will present their innovative solutions to a wide audience. This is a unique opportunity for citizens, researchers, policymakers, local authorities, entrepreneurs, investors, and other stakeholders to engage with the teams and learn how their projects will contribute to climate change adaptation. Experts from the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change and the EU Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities will also participate, discussing how these innovations support the broader goals of the Missions.
- October 11th: The top teams will present their solutions to a jury of high-level experts in Brussels, competing for the title of European Citizens Hackathon Champions.
