Join Mastering ECSP: Individual Portfolio Management of Loans and its specifics Webinar #6 – 13 April 2022
Our next Mastering ECSP webinar is taking place on 13 April 2022, at 17.00 CET, and during this session, we will take a closer look at Individual Portfolio Management of Loans.
Individual portfolio management of loans refers to the allocation of investors’ funds by a crowdfunding service provider, potentially to one or more crowdfunding projects following a mandate specified by the individual investors. On one hand, this creates an interesting reality, where the investor does not allocate her funds unilaterally but provides only parameters that a crowdfunding service provider follows. On the other hand, since the decision-making is not only on the shoulders of the investor it calls for an increased set of guarantees that the investors’ funds will be allocated in an adequate manner and in accordance with investor’s preferences and risk appetite. ECSP regulation therefore contains an additional set of regulatory requirements for those providers, which conduct such management of loans. Concretely, ECSP establishes minimum parameters of the investment mandate, requires credit risk assessment, storing and management of data related to loans provided in this manner, and specifies the requirements for contingency funds. In addition to and following a mandate given by ECSP, EBA in close cooperation with ESMA prepared a set of rather detailed technical standards on individual portfolio management of loans. Even then, the implementation of the given regulatory requirements is, to say the least, challenging for the platforms that intend to provide this particular service.
